Julian Assange Returns to Australia

Former WikiLeaks Founder Receives Hero's Welcome

Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, has returned to his home country of Australia after spending 14 years abroad. Assange arrived in Sydney on Thursday, July 9, and was greeted by a small group of supporters at the airport. He hugged his wife and father as he stepped off the plane.

Assange's return to Australia comes after he was released from a US prison following a guilty plea in a US court. The plea allowed him to return to Australia to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Assange is facing extradition to the United States on charges of espionage and conspiracy. He has denied the charges and has vowed to fight the extradition. However, the US government has stated that it is committed to bringing Assange to justice.
